Zyvex Corporation today introduced the first two products
in its NanoSolve™ line of composite additives at the
Polyurethane Manufacturers Association Annual Meeting and
Supplier Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia today. One product is
based on single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), the other
is based on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). Both products
are specially designed for dispersion in polyurethanes. The
additives also attach well to the polyurethane matrix, boosting
the host material‚s thermal transport and mechanical
properties.
“We are now offering additives that can
create composite materials which
exploit the intrinsic properties of carbon nanotubes,”
said Zyvex President,
Thomas A. Cellucci, PhD, MBA. “We believe that these
products are another
example of how quickly Zyvex can move nanotechnology out of
the lab and into the commercial world.”
An important aspect of these two products is
the product development and
manufacturing flexibility that they provide. Both products
provide demonstrable
increases in thermal conductivity and mechanical strength,
at various loadings.
“This gives the composite manufacturer
a range of formulation options to choose from that meet specific
material design and price parameters,” said Robert Folaron,
Director of Product Development at Zyvex. “Because of
our
recent work building a reliable, quality supply chain, Zyvex
is ready to offer
these additives as true industrial materials.”
