Zyvex Corporation today announced the addition of Dr. Rob
Burgess as Vice President of Research & Development, and
the promotions of Dr. Patrick Howard to Director of Worldwide
Sales, and Taylor Cavanah to Product Manager.
Dr. Burgess has a strong background in Life Sciences with
a particular focus in molecular biology, in vivo drug target
validation, and genetic engineering. He was formerly the Director
of Scientific Sourcing and New Technologies at Serologicals
Corporation, a 1000-employee bio tools and reagents company
that realized $275M in 2005 revenue. There he provided long-term
visionary guidance for the company through the establishment
of key relationships and partnerships with academic researchers
and institutions.
Burgess holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of
Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the
University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
He has received numerous awards, including an appointment
to the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Steering Committee for
the Southern California Life Sciences Summit and was a Visiting
Scholar at Georgia Tech University.

Dr. Patrick Howard joined the company in May 2006, as Worldwide
Sales Manager. He leads the company’s global sales efforts,
leveraging Zyvex’s strong technical position and customer-driven
focus. Howard was formerly President and CEO of TA Instruments,
a Laboratory Instrumentation Company in New Castle, Delaware
with $65M in revenues. He holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry
from the University of Houston and completed his undergraduate
work at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas.
Taylor Cavanah joined Zyvex in 2004 and was formerly a Physicist
and Technical Sales Representative for Zyvex’s NanoWorks®
Tools product line. He has experience dealing with worldwide
customers in the areas of Semiconductors and Electronics with
a focus on basic nanotechnology research and the microelectronics
industry. He holds a B.A. in Physics from Rice University,
and a M.S. in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas.
