“With the growing interest in characterizing
biological materials and phenomena at the nanoscale level,
the L100 Nanomanipulation System provides an integral tool
for the life science researcher involved in nanocharacterization,”
said Zyvex President Thomas A. Cellucci, PhD, MBA. “Zyvex’s
new product development continues to demonstrate our leadership
position in developing real-world, practical nanotechnology
solutions.”
The joystick-controlled Nanomanipulator can
have up to four individually-controllable nanopositioners
each capable of incorporating a variety of NanoEffector™
tools. Zyvex’s NanoEffector tools, which include microgrippers
and probes, can be used with the L100 Nanomanipulation System
to perform precise mechanical and electrical characterization,
and multiple nanocharacterization techniques.

Mechanical testing applications include force
probing of individual cells and tensile/bend-testing of microscale
biomaterials ranging from individual collagen fibers —
to engineered tissue constructs. Electrical testing applications
include electronic property measurements of biopolymer strands
and impedance testing of tissue. The tool enables a variety
of measurements and experiments under different optical microscopes.
Application notes are available that show the
power and versatility of the L100 Nanomanipulation System.
The first application note, titled “Manipulation of
Collagen fibers for mechanical characterization,” is
available on the Zyvex web site. Other application notes show
the power and versatility of Zyvex’s NanoWorks™
Product Line, NanoEffector™ Tools, and Nanomaterials
Products and Capabilities.
The L100 Nanomanipulator System is an integral
part of Zyvex’s mission of providing flexible, automated
manufacturing at ever decreasing size scales.
